Matting
If you're not familiar, matting is when your dogs fur gets tangled and knotted. It can happen easily, especially if your dog has long hair. But did you know that matting can actually be very uncomfortable and painful for your dog.
One of the biggest risks of matting in dogs is skin irritation. When mats are left untreated, they can cause redness, hot spots, itching, suffocate the skin, harmful bacteria and even cause infection.
Mats restrict blood flow to the area of the body that it covers. The lack of blood flow weakens the skin causing it to be thinner and more likely to tear or bleed. Sometimes after removing mats, a quick rush of blood fills the area (most commonly at the tips of ear) and can cause bleeding.
From a grooming perspective mats are particularly challenging, given they are so close to the skin and in most cases the only option to remove them is by shaving them down, however, this increases the risk of nicks to the skin and can lead to fecal and urine build up which in turn can lead to infections.
In addition to the risk of injury, grooming sessions for severely matted dogs can be lengthy, stressful, and painful for your pet. It's important to note that more than one session may be necessary in order to fully address the issue. Your pet's skin is also at risk of becoming irritated during this process.
Premier Paws cannot be held liable for any after grooming effects or problems that arise from badly matted or neglected coats. This includes, but is not limited to, itchiness, skin redness, and self-inflicted irritations/abrasions caused by excessive rubbing. Shaving a dog down is a last resort, we encourage owners to regularly brush their dogs, using a conditioning spray, please speak to your groomer who will be able to recommend suitable products and share with you grooming techniques to avoid matting.

Appointments, Collections and Cancellations:
Appointments:
We operate a pre booking service, therefore, we do not offer "walk in services" and all appointments must be booked in advance.
It's important to always arrive on time for your pet's appointments, this is to ensure your groomer has adequate time to understand your pets needs, but most importantly, this allows your dog to settle in to the environment prior to the grooming sessions, this help to avoid any potential stress or anxiety which your dog may have.
If you are late for your appointment, please make us aware as soon as possible by contacting us on 07946 244372, we will hold your appointment up to 15 minutes post booking slot (providing this is communicated beforehand), in the event that we need to reschedule your appointment due to lateness, there may be a charge for any grooming losses that occur. We understand situations arise which are unavoidable, therefore, this will be managed on a case by case basis and we will work with you to find a suitable solution.
We respectfully ask that you attend your appointment at the time stated, we cater for all breeds and behaviors, including nervous, aggressive and excitable dogs. Our appointment times are designed to ensure minimal/ no contact with other dogs, this can be unsettling for your dog and/ or other dogs within the salon.

At Premier Paws Dog Grooming, our goal is to provide the best possible care for your beloved pet. However, in the event that your dog requires immediate veterinary attention while in our care, we want to assure you that we take this responsibility seriously. If we feel that your dog's health and well-being are at risk, we will not hesitate to take them to the nearest available veterinary clinic for treatment.
It is important to note that Premier Paws accepts no liability for any pre-existing conditions, ailments, sores, or injuries that your dog may have. It is the responsibility of the owner to inform us of any known health issues or concerns prior to leaving their dog in our care.
We strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all dogs in our care, but we recognise that emergencies can happen. In the event of an emergency, we will make every effort to contact you before seeking veterinary attention. However, please understand that the health and well-being of your dog is our top priority and we may not be able to wait for your consent before seeking medical treatment.
it is important to understand that the grooming environment can sometimes pose inherent risks. Grooming tools, equipment, and the nature of handling animals can create situations where accidents may occur. While we take every precaution to avoid incidents, dogs are not robots and may behave unpredictably by jumping, moving suddenly, or becoming overly excited, aggressive, bite equipment etc.
Premier Paws prioritizes your dog’s welfare at all times, but do not accept liability for any accidents, injuries, or adverse reactions that may occur during the grooming process. By agreeing to our services, you acknowledge and accept these risks, understanding that despite our best efforts, incidents may still happen due to the nature of working with animals.
Thank you for choosing Premier Paws Dog Grooming for your dog's grooming needs. We appreciate your trust and look forward to providing exceptional care for your dog.
